Intertwined Mishaps

I hear those words
You know,
those words,
And I shudder.
They don't pertain to me.
Surely I am not those words.
But
something rings in me.
An alarm to my system
telling me, screaming at me
to never say those words.
You may not be those words
but that man, that woman
down there might be.
Why can't we just call each other
human?
